7 Rivers Range Rules

SAFETY FIRST

In the world of Cowboy Action Shooting, safety is the first order of the day. The Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) has developed and maintained a Shooters Handbook available to anyone wanting to know more specific information. Because we use real firearms with live ammunition, safety is imperative for competitors and spectators alike. For this purpose, we've provided the SASS Magnificent Seven and the 7RR Club rules for your general information. Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
Never let the muzzle of a firearm break the 170° rule.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond.
Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
Firearms remain unloaded away from the firing line — loading area to unloading area. (Cold range)
Treat all firearms with respect.
Speak Up.

7 Rivers Regulators Rules Too

In ADDITION to SASS Rules there are a few we have adopted to help keep it safe and fun for everyone.

ANY round over the berm is a Match DQ.
Loaded firearms SHALL remain on the loading table or in holsters prior to departing to shoot the stage,
Non-Shooters on the line (brassers, spotters, etc) SHALL NOT handle the shooters firearms unless requested by the shooter themself or the Timing Operator in the case of a declared broken gun.
There are no “foot faults” meaning our shoots do not require you to have a foot or feet behind a table or across a line to shoot.
Shooters may move from behind any table they feel causes interference with safe loading/unloading of the shotgun.
Per SASS rules, you may load a shotgun on the move but NOT close it to make it ready to fire (no plant-n-poke).
We wear our hats on the Pecos. If the starting position says “hands on hat” it means a hat that is ON your head.
