Safety - First and Foremost
In the world of Cowboy Action Shooting, safety is the first order of the day. The Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) has developed and maintained a Shooters Handbook available to anyone wanting to know more specific information. Because we use real firearms with live ammunition, safety is imperative for competitors and spectators alike. For this purpose we've provided the SASS Magnificent Seven and the 7RR Club rules for your general information. If you'd like to review the SASS SHooter Handbook we provided a link to that as well.

The SASS Magnificent Seven
1- Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
2- Never let the muzzle of a firearm break the 170° rule.
3- Be sure of your target and what is beyond.
4- Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
5- Firearms remain unloaded away from the firing line — loading area to unloading area. (Cold range)
6- Treat all firearms with respect.
7- Speak Up.

7 RR Club Specific Safety
7 Rivers Regulators follows all SASS Rules and Regulations for competition and safety. In ADDITION to SASS Rules there are a couple we have adopted a couple more to help keep it safe and fun for everyone.
1- ANY round over the berm is a Match Disqualification.
2- “Plant and Poke” shotgun loading - shooters must plant one foot before loading shells into the chamber(s) of the shotgun.
3- Loaded firearms SHALL remain on the loading table or in holsters prior to departing to shoot the stage,
4- Non-Shooters on the line (brassers, spotters, etc) SHALL NOT handle the shooters firearms unless requested by the shooter themself or the Timing Operator in the case of a declared broken gun.
